PERFECT CITY PART THREE
ACTIVITY #1: Agricultural Team Meeting
1. During your team meeting you need to research and discuss:
HINTS: Be sure that you refer to your notes from watching "Kiss the Ground". Be EVERY DETAILED about your information/decisions
3. Fill out a Team Eval Form
- Do some research on what crops can be grown in the region your city is located
- Where will you get your food from?
- What can you do in your city to insure that your food is grown and distributed in a sustainable way and not add human emissions into the atmosphere

Activity #2: Agricultural Slides - Due Tuesday for feedback
Create slides that include the following:
- Using the information you have determined during your Agriculture Team Meeting, create slides showing the crops that you can grow in the region your city is located
- Explain where and how you will get food to your city
- Explain what steps your city will take to insure that your food is grown and distributed in a sustainable way so that your city does not add human emissions into the atmosphere
- Be sure to include charts/graphs for evidence
- Be sure to include images
Activity #3: Energy Sources Team Meeting
1. Together, complete "What are your choices for supplying energy in the future?" on learn.concord.org
Determine 2 or 3 sources of renewable energy that can be used to bring energy/electricity to your city.
- Take notes
- Screenshot any graphs/tables that you think will be helpful to use in your slides

Activity #4: Energy Sources Slides - Due Thursday for feedback
Using the information you have determined during your Energy Sources Team Meeting, create slides showing how you will supply energy to your city, create slides that include the following:
- Explain where the energy will come from - how will the 2 or 3 different sources of energy will be generated
- Explain the pros and cons for each of the sources (at least 3 of each for each source of energy)
- Explain WHY did you chose these options?
- How will the atmosphere benefit by your city using these sources?
April 8th is the last time we will work on projects in class!

1. Discuss what the graphs from Activity #1 are telling you about what will happen to the earth if emissions decrease and what will happen to the earth if emission increase. This is an inference activity (What will happen in Water Vapor increases? What will happen if CO2 in oceans increase? What will happen if CO2 in atmosphere increases? What will happen if Water Vapor decreases? What will happen if CO2 in the oceans decrease? What will happen if CO2 in the atmosphere decreases?)
2. Research to find 2 or 3 current climate change issues that are occurring in the area of your city. What are the issues and how do these issues affect your city? What can your city do to combat these issues?

Using this link, find information about how the temperature in your city has changed since 1920. You will put in the name of a real town/city that is closest to your developing Perfect City where it says "Your hometown" and 1920 where it says Birth Year. Read through the information that is shared - TAKE NOTES! Then, make a screenshot of the graph. You will be able to use this graph in your Perfect City presentation. |
